NEW! Rurouni Kenshin Anime Production (Coming Soon)

AnimeAll Rurouni Kenshin fans (and Saitou fans!) REJOICE! A new anime is in the works as confirmed by the June issue of Jump Square. We have no details yet of what the new animation is about, of course everyone is hoping for either a complete re-animation of the entire series (including Jinchuu) or the animation of the Jinchuu arc itself. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will be the entire series, either way it is a WIN situation for RK fans. In celebration of the 15th year anniversary they already released the PSP game "Saisen” the past month (I got my copy too), and soon are planning a release on blu-ray of the OVAs. If the new animation in the PSP is any indication of the upcoming project, I don’t think any RK fan will be disappointed. Having played the game (which I thought was a decent fighter for the PSP), the animated OP was entirely gorgeous in CG. I am keeping my fingers crossed and am guessing that perhaps it is slated for a fall release. I know fans have been jumping for joy since the news, rightly so as we’ve waited for many years for this kind of follow up. Stay tuned for more info and feel free to send info our way if you have any! Thank you! Also visit this site Kenshin TV as they probably will update with news soon.

2011 Shinsengumi Keppuroku

J-DramaShinsengumi fans rejoice! Although Hakuouki has already finished it’s anime run (with the OVA and new Nintendo 3DS coming soon), NHK is already airing another jidaigeki with our favorite samurai! The j-drama is “Shinsengumi Keppuroku” taken from the classic by novel by Shiba Ryotaro. Shinsengumi Keppuroku has been remaked several times in the past where the most notable were in 1966 which was a 24 episode series and one of my favorites was in 1998 for 11 episodes starring the mucho excelente, Watari Tetsuya. 2011’s Shinsengumi Keppuroku will be aired for 12 episodes and will star Nagai Masaru as Hijikata and Takuma Takayuki as Kondou. It is airing on NHK every Sunday at 6:45PM (local time). Visit the official website here

Hakuouki Hekketsu-roku (Season 2) and Season 1 Rilezu art

AnimeIt's getting cold here in Chicago and although I want to mope around and complain that summer's gone too fast and my professional life has been eating up all my personal time... I'd rather spend my time telling Shinsengumi fans that the second season of Hakuouki is just one more week away from airing in Japan. I'm sure a lot of you have seen the previews and they even had a "recap" episode of the first season... At the very end of the recap episode they gave us a look at the opening credits.

AnimeYes I've been one of those who were complaining that Hakuouki's story can't possibly end well with so few episodes! It deserved at least 24 episodes... And today what do we get? We get the next best thing! A SECOND SEASON has been announced for Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan! I almost fell out of my chair when Safetygirl called me! Yes I'm ashamed to admit it Safety's been more on top of things new wise lately than I am. You can see animenewsnetwork report here.

MangaFans of Peace Maker Kurogane have I got some news for you! Finally Kurono Nanae is continuing Peace Maker! As most PMK fans know the second series of the manga was left unfinished and today I got wind that on July 24, Peace Maker Kurogane no Aburanokoji will go on sale for 920 Yen. Apparently it's a special print with a recap of the previous stories, has interviews and will be B5 size printing. Kurono Nanae is the illustrator the only thing I haven't confirmed yet is if this is a novel with illustrations or an actual manga. Either way it is good news after such a long hiatus for this series. When I get more details I will post it here. It's about time! To your right is sample art from this new release. Cool
